DATA
OVERVIEW
Access to microdata sets will be given for approved research projects only
(see the proposal guidelines.) These data sets are not a regular part of the Census Bureau data
dissemination program. The table below lists data sets that are potentially available at the
Chicago RDC. Not all data sets are currently available as explained below. Researchers need to
consult with the Chicago RDC Administrator on availability of particular data sets before
writing research proposals.
Please note that individuals or organizations seeking statistics or public-use datasets should visit
the Census Bureau website.
The following groups of data are available:

Economic Data |

Censuses and surveys of business establishments and firms

With very few exceptions, no public use files exist for these surveys |

Complete geography (in many cases down to the block) |

Items such as income are not topcoded |

NCHS data are now available for use at the Chicago RDC.

Projects will require both NCHS and Census approval. |

AHRQ data are now available for use at the Chicago RDC.
